Housing Benefit question

Hi all, I just had my housing benefit paid today but it was £10 short. So i phoned the council, and they said the government have reduced it. But a friend of mine said it was only for new claiments. Well ive been in my flat for about 8 months now.
Im on Shared room allowance as im under 35 yrs of age.
Im just wondering if what the council says is correct cos i cant find anything about it on their website. Only can see the rates of up to last month.
Thanks!

Surely part time work plus housing benefit is going to pay as much or more than you get on JSA!

I really don't understand this comment. What has this to do with the OP's question?

    So........

From your other thread you are receiving JSA - is this income based JSA?

If it is income based JSA then you should be receiving the shared accommodation rate as you are under 35.

I am not sure what 'the government has reduced it' means. Did the person from the council say anything else?

    What is your local council?

There was a whole second post by the OP about their inability to work full time, ESA, JSA etc that they decided to delete.

Note to self to quote posts when replying.

yeah i get the shared bedroom rate, but all the woman said was that the government has reduced the rate. she didnt say anything else. Hense why i'm not sure about it. I dont understand what you mean by what is your local council though? Its just a normal town council.

She only said that the LHA rate has been reduced. There is nothing on the LHA calculator or anything on their site
