Egg Money - minus cashback

I have an Egg Money card and recently reached the maximum £200 available cashback for the 12months. Admittedly most of this came as a result of moving funds to my Egg Savings account.

As I had reached the cashback limit I've been using my MS card for purchases, but had to revert back to my Egg Money card after I mislaid the MS card.

I have just received my latest statement to find Egg have deducted £11.58 from my cashback total, even though I have been making more purchases on it and paying off the full amount each month.

Is this an attempt to reclaim cashback earnt via the Egg Savings loophole??

Very likely. I had 40 quid knocked off my statement last month - having gone on via the loophole the month before. The moot point (for you) is whether they will stop with this most recent deduction or are about to go through earlier statements with a 'tooth comb'. (Time will tell)

2 or 3 threads running on the stoozing website at the moment on this board:

Seems to be pretty random as to what they do, and what triggers their action. Personally, I moved my last £2.5K to Egg Savings and didn't get cashback. Shortly afterwards they removed £25 of my already existing cashback. Then, on my next statement date, they re-instated the £25 they had removed, leaving me in the same position I was in before the £2.5K transfer.

I had decided that was it, and I'd settle for £175 this year. However, after giving it some more thought recently, I've now decided to move another £2.5K at the very last moment before my final statement is produced for the 07/08 cashback year. Hopefully, they won't have time to remove £25 this time...and removing it the first week/statement in my 08/09 cashback year will give me a minus figure - and their systems shouldn't allow that.

Method in my madness, or madness in my method?
