Dell nightmare

After having bought several Dells in the past and recommending them to friends, I will never ever by anything from them again. I am having a complete nightmare with an XPS 27 that I bought for £1k + only a month or so ago! You can never speak to anyone in the UK, India goes through all the motions, makes the right noises and never rectifies anything, then they promise an engineer visit for a day to suit only to cancel it in the morning!

If Customer Service matters to you dont bother buying from Dell - you may regret it like me!

Paid on a card? Tell them you'll section 75 the purchase as it was missold and they have not attempted to rectify the situation.

But a few more details on what is actually wrong is bound to be useful? Perhaps we can help ...

Basically I splashed out on a Dell XPS27 a month ago as I plan to work form home in the future. Ive had problems virtually from day one. At the weekend a bloke in India got onto my pc uninstalled and reinstalled various drivers and then told me I needed a new WIFI card which is why I can only connect with an Ethernet cable. I told him I work full time in London and happen to have Tuesday off so they had to come then. I was assured it would happen then this morning I get an email telling me that because yesterday and today (???) is Bank Holiday they wil be coming tomorrow Wednesday) IM AT WORK TOMORROW! Ive told them this more than a dozen times and none seems to listen or understand what Im saying!! Ive tried to speak to someone in the uk but when you ring you get one of five call centres around the world!

Not that I can help you...but Dell used to be very good and expensive and then, they like the rest succumbed to market pressure to go cheap cheap cheap and went downmarket in the quality.
So the ability to configure a PC to your spec vanished..and the rest.
Only a few days ago someone on here was astounded how much a Dell desktop cost in 2005 -Yup and they worked perfectly 24/7/365. All of which gives you an indication how little excellent quality is now valued.

Good luck. I had 10 missed engineers visits before someone came to rectify fault on my faulty dell laptop. The engineer that called then tried to,pick a fight with me about what virus software I was using.
A week after the visit, something else went wrong with the laptop and I don't have the patience to go through it all again with Dell so have just written the whole thing off.

I agree, a once great company that is now letting it's customers down. When I was a manager in Local Government I always specified Dell because they were so reliable and the maintenance was top notch.

Since retiring I've continued to buy Dells for my own use but the latest purchase, an XPS12 has been riddled with problems including 2 screen replacements due to pixel failures and Wi-Fi card problems. Once out of guarantee the repair costs are telephone numbers and Dell refuse to accept that they produced a lemon.
