CUE claims listed - but never made any claims

Fellow MSE users,

I have never made any claims on any insurance that I have, never had any accidents etc.

I have taken out a car insurance with Elephant (good price etc.) so happy with it.

I had a look in the Certificate of Motor Insurance and they list 3 "CUE claim" records for me but I never made any claims...

First one is for £6k in 2015 (no major event around that time)
Second one is for £21k in 2014 (at the time when we bought our property with mortgage)
Third one is for... £0 in 2013

All listed as "CUE Claim" but again, I never made any claims - could this be fraud? Or related to some process?

Confused!

Thanks,
Peter

Could be fraud, but just as likely to be a result of the lack of proper QA procedures operating in the CUE secret, unregulated, blacklist. IS there no indication as to which chancers hammered you with the CUE records? If not, you may need to slap the CUE drongos with a SAR.
  • Thanks GingerBob!

Nope - no indication as to who put the record there.

Could you please let me know what is a SAR? Googling for it returns lots of stuff ;-)

A £0 claim could be a windscreen claim, I have two on my record, one for a repair and one a few months later for a replacement.

Could just be a computer mistake by Elephant.

If you had these claims, why did they quote you a good price or even provide a policy when you did not disclose these ?

Suggest you contact Elephant and get their underwriters to check why your certificate is listing 3 claims on CUE you have never had.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • Thanks all!

I have never made a claim for anything in my life i.e. windscreen or whatever

I'll start with the SAR to see what's up. I'll give them a call as well, it shouldn't affect the price if they get removed, or... maybe it will get even cheaper (should!) ;-)

SAR might prove a waste of time.

I suspect a computer error at Elephant !

Otherwise Elephant would be cancelling due to non disclosure.

You need to get Elephant to look into this. They can access the records and it saves you £10 for the SAR.

A simple question to Elephant is the way to go.
