Just the 2 of us, OH actually had the weekend and BH off, which is unusal ....

    Started well:
SAT: 9 quid Macd breakfast , free pass to Twycross zoo, then weekly shop at Morris.
Car started clunking on the way home so dropped it off at the garage.
£350 to fix something called coils and shocks!

Unless we go away a bank holiday is no different to any other weekend- some are spendy some are not.

Today as I spent yesterday in London playing tourguide to a newly found relative on his first trip to England I just took it easy . Only place I went was to see the MIL as she doesn't do internet and wanted to order a new mattress so I look my ipad down to hers and did the Argos order(pretty good deal - sale price, quidco and a ten pound voucher included and only £3.75 for same day delivery ). I work Tuesday to Friday anyway so BHs aren't a big deal/

Yesterday was £13 for a train ticket , London Walks tour £10 plus £4 entry to a building on the tour and six pounds for a sandwich lunch.....bus and tube for the rest of the day was "free" as I had oyster credit already and used it to the max visiting not just the sights but also my grandfather's house to show my new relative as he wanted to see it.The fact it was a bank holiday weekend didn't figure in our plans .

(Whilst I was in London OH spring cleaned our bedroom pulled everything out and did a proper deep clean - Bless him :) )

Approx £170, typical use of a 3 day weekend to do decorating.

Lots of dulux paint from the B&Q offer, ceiling paint, woodwork paint. So far done a bedroom and the whole of the hall.

We plan to do the last 2 rooms on the next bank holiday in 4 weeks.

Very little, absolutely hate bank holidays and especially bank holiday drivers. We stay home as much as possible on them. Xxx
Couldn't agree more. We rarely go anywhere as the traffic is always in chaos. Bank holidays are a throwback to when we were dictated to by the religious lobby and had to take Easter, Whitsun etc as holidays.

Before I retired I was always happy to work bank holidays and have days off later. My wife would now love to do the same. Scrap them all and let people take the days off whenever they like.

Not too bad here. We both work weekends and BHs and our shift pattern doesn't get altered so BHs mean nothing in our house! We went for a couple of local walks so zero spend but had a takeaway last night at £22.50. We treat ourselves to one or a meal out once a month.

They could be scrapped - no need to keep them at all - it would save companies a lot of money. You don't need to add these days to people's holidays at all.

Our bank holiday didn't cost any more than a regular weekend would. Went out shoe shopping with daughter but just spent money I needed to spend, whether we had spent it this weekend or some other time.

Spent most of the weekend doing planned jobs around the house. Leave the already congested roads to the people wanting a day out in the country.

We planned to take the drone to the park, but the weather was too dull here so I spent it doing the garden instead. Didn't cost us any money though. ;)
