I got a new car yesterday and need to insure it today but I still have my old car which I am looking to sell but its MOT runs out in about 6 weeks which wont look great to a buyer but I cant get a new MOT until I am within 1 month of the current one running out - so ill be MOT'ing the car in 2 weeks time.
In the meantime I need to be insured on both vehicles - whats the best way to arrange the insurance - I see that you aren't allowed to use No Claims Discount on more than 1 vehicle.
all help welcomed
getting quotes of £800plus with zero ncb compared with £3-400 normally!!!
the temp insurers also want £200 for just 28 days

You can put the car in for an MOT at any time, the month is to preserve the anniversary of the test, not a legal thing.
I'd ask my current insurer first about covering both cars short term.0 -
ta roland, that helps but.....i still need some shortterm insurance until it sells though0

Yep, ask your insurer if they will do this for you. I've done it in the past, changed over to my new car but my insurer was also covering the old one for a week or 2 to let me sell it.
Likely to be a fee, and I don't think all insurers do it, but probably the cheapest option.0 -
You can MOT it at anytime they dont extend the time but a few weeks wont matter if your selling it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
