We bought from B & Q, got the planner out, dithered for a while and finally made up our minds to buy the units (we already had appliances and needed a kitchen to fit around them) right before the Christmas. It turns out, this is a good time of year because not too many people want to spend money on a new kitchen so close to Christmas. We got 10% off and used a builder we already knew to help fit it (OH is good at DIY but many jobs need two people, like lifting great, long worktops that weigh a ton) The builder had all the tools you need for such a job.

If you can show an interest then hang on for a few weeks, it might be worth trying to get a discount to secure them a sale; I think they may have targets to hit, not sure.

Depending on what spec you want, I would seriously consider sourcing your own appliances and fitters, as many have said.

    HTH.

Another vote for Ikea, I have a tiny kitchen and their units don't have a void at the back so you can get more in the cupboards (does mean pipes and cables need to be run at the kick board level. Mine has been in 3 years and is holding up really well, only thing I would say is don't get a cheap worktop, thats the only thing I regret. The draws are strong and things like soft close hinges add a touch of luxury. I also saved money by building the units myself (it's just ikea flatpack) and getting a fitter to install them.

    Another vote here for IKEA.

We looked at the kitchens and got quotes everywhere.

We love our IKEA Kitchen, planned and fitted it all ourselves.

If you decide you do not like/want something it is so easy to return and you have loads of time to do it in.
