Why do skim beads show through on some jobs but not others?

I've had 3 plasterers at my house doing plaster work. With the first & second once they had finished, many of their skim beads looked like this...

You can't feel the skim bead, you can just see the dark patches where the bead has holes.

The last guy i had out - can't see his skim bead at all...

The one where you don't see the markings - this is on a chimney breast on the party wall.

The one where you do - well, this is all over. Interior walls, the exterior wall.

So 1) i just wonder why the difference

2) more importantly, i'm wondering if i just paint as normal, or will this be like staining & show through paintwork?
