New card application

I'm a newbie here and am looking for a bit of advice please.
I am wanting to book a holiday for next year, and would like to do so on a 0%credit card, so am looking to apply for a new card - there are several I could go for (one of which is pre-approved, which I think means I can pretty much guarantee that the application will be successful?)
My problem is, I could do with knowing what the credit limit on the card will be before I apply, as the holiday is likely to be in the region of £7-8k. I don want to 'waste' a credit card application on a card thats only going to give me a limit of £2-3k. Is it possible to check the limit before I apply??
Sorry if this is a silly question - I'm quite new to MSE moneysaving and haven't played with credit cards in this way before!

Don't forget that you will need a 0% purchase card not a 0% balance transfer card.
With regard to the credit limit mentioned, although an initial credit limit of 7-8k is not impossible it cannot be expected as a matter of course. It will depend on a number of factors. What sort of credit limits and balances do you have on your existing cards? What is your credit history like in general terms?

My credit record is good, I have credit cards at the moment with limits between 3 and 6k, but they're longstanding cards so not 0%
I could always spread the cost on my current cards and then apply for new balance transfer cards, but then there'd be transfer fees, wouldn't there?
I've never spent so much on a hooray before, it's a real one-off so am keen to do it he cheapest way I can!!

Apologies if this comes across as nosy but are you really planning to spend £7-8K on a holiday without having the funds to do so?! Or are you perhaps expecting to receive a large lump sum next year?

Well, we have about half the money already but will be paying off the rest over the next 12 months - we have guaranteed income which will easily cover paying it off monthly but want to go this year rather than wait till next year, it's a one-off mega holiday for personal reasons,

I don't know who you're booking with but some will let you pay half and then pay the rest before you go or alternatively you can put the balance on two cards when you pay (Emirates did this when I didn't have the full amount on one card).

Phone them and see what you can do.
