new keepers supplement has one extra digit at the front , this is third row up bottom left on the small v5/2 you were given

the other car I bought last week DID have 12 numbers on the V5C/2
but this ones only got 11 on the V5C/20 -
between your last posting and this , I have just taxed online the car I bought yesterday
please confirm you are looking at the small green tair off section of the V5
lower left it says DOC REF then 5 numbers xxxxx, then a space then 3 numbers xxx then a space then 4 numbers xxxx then a space then the date that it was printed
in my case it reads
doc ref no. 56105 xxx 0162 01 02 15Save a Rachael

I am.
As I said the car I bought last Saturday had 12 digits there in that format.
The car I bought ( for mrs ) this morning is #### ### ####
If I look on my old focus doc that's 11 digits too
I got a feeling some reg docs or newer ones had the 12 digit code as as something iffy happened with reg docs at the dvla a few years back?0 -

Some PO's are open on Sundays but you may have to search and travel:

Tried that :-(
Sub postoffices cant do it ( they are open )
Main post offices will but they are shut.
just out of interest when you declare a sorn any outstanding refund for full months gets refunded doesn't it? how does that work?0 -
I've just looked at my most recent V5, issued last April when the car was changed to classic status, the document reference in the new keepers section has an additional digit at the start compared to the same reference in other sections. Looking back to the old V5 that was issue before the replacement V5s were sent out in 2014, there are only 11 digits. My old one dates back to 2004, so I can't say when the change was made, but it sounds as if the keeper has provided the old V5C/2 section, rather than the new one.
If you SORN a vehicle, you will get the outstanding tax back for the full months that are surrendered. Last time I did it, it came as a cheque to the registered keepers name and address.0
