Hi
I just don't do crafts (too many fingers and thumbs) but I've offered to make some confetti cones for a friend's wedding and I thought they can't be that difficult, can they?
What type of paper should I use, can I use wallpaper (was thinking of getting some samples and using them), also what would I need to make the edges fancy, like this for example
http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/pinkandturquoise/product/floral-vintage-inspired-confetti-cones
and would this be difficult for a novice to do.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thank you

I'm not very crafty - but looking at the link - they do look like wallpaper can be used, I'd try a sample first - just incase there too thick...
Grab some normal paper and have a play around, - it would look nice if you got a little pattern puncher
Good luck xxxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
You can google 'free cone template' to get the right shape. Print one off as your main template and you can then use it to draw on wallpaper. You need to make sure that the wallpaper is easy to bend, otherwise it will crack, so bring home a few samples to get the feel of what will be best.
If you want pretty edges like your link, then you can buy edge punches or patterned scissors - don't forget to have fun!0 -
You need to get some good/strong glue, then test it with some affordable/available papers to check how it dries, does it make the colour run, does it stick, etc.... don't skimp on the glue cost/quality as that's a key part of the construction. It's all about the glue strength, no "bottles for £1" off the market
The "hard bit" is getting a fancy edging, but you can achieve that by buying a paper punch that produces the pattern - which you use like a hole puncher, it's just a handheld small plastic punch.
You can also experiment, if you get more excited, with various contrasting lining sheets etc ... or you might just sack that off as "too hard".
Also think about decoupage ... or sticking glittery bits/whatnot round the edges.
Do make sure they are all identically sized, so you can "stack" them while making them - having to have them spread everywhere as they weren't quite the same size would become annoying.
Card weight should be about 160gsm, but try out a few weights and see how you feel about how they feel in your hand. Wander into a good stationery shop and feel what 160gsm feels like .... you could even buy one sheet of that weight for reference purposes if you wish, that'd be a few pence for one sheet of card. Then you could carry a square of it in your pocket when out looking at others, and have it at home to "feel and compare" with other cards/papers you've got randomly.0
