Housing benefit calculations

Hello.
I have received partial housing benefit, and now am told I was overpaid.
The council receive automatic updates of my salary from Tax credits- i think it is called Atos system?
So how can they have my wage incorrect if they get it automatically?
I haven't supplied a wage slip since last September when one child went off to uni and I was re-calculated, but they havent asked for one either.
Will I have to pay back in a lump sum or will it be able to spread monthly.

ATLAS. Real Time Information.
There are lots of 'issues' still being ironed out. If you believe an error has been made ask for a reconsideration providing your wage slips.

Overpayments are usually clawed back at a weekly amount. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
Tax credits only receive details of your income from your employer (via RTI) on an annual basis, not at each pay period.0

Thanks for the replies.....
Maybe it is because I now get reimbursed for travel and parking costs for work, so they make my wage appear higher. The council must take this as income0 -
did you inform the council that your child moved away?
this would have reduced your applicable amount0
