Offer put in for ahouse marketed by an estate agent but seller works at same agency

Options
i have got a unique scenario where by the house is being marketed by an estate agent...the seller works in the same agency as a sales negotiator..

i have been turned down twice with my offer and its feels as if they are trying to get best price for their friend in a sense...

i normally expect estate agent to play a role in the middle..and try and convenience the seller to accept but in this case i dint see this view...

what should i do next....?

That is what they are paid to do. It makes no difference where the Vendor works.

Best and final offer then walk away and find another house to buy.

It's not that unusual and they have declared it.

The Agent always works for the seller (their client) and are never you (the buyer)'s best friend... They must always try to get the best price for their client!

It's not YOU who is paying the EA's bill, it's the seller. Their job is to get the best price for him/her, not you.

Being their 'friend'/colleague is not relevant (& clearly not a secret either).

I'd only wonder what was going on if you say you've offered the asking price!

If the vendor is an agent, they will know the market and the value. The price they want is the minimum you will pay. What have they said to your offers other than no.

Of course he is going to try and get the best price, the EA works for the vendor. Talk about stating the obvious.
  • I agree with the above - but really do suggest that you turn down their offer of mortgage adviser and solicitor :rotfl:

Run. Run as fast as you can.

Alternatively take the grown up view that the agent is
    a) acting ONLY for the seller
    b) will be trying to get the best price like every other EA
    c) will say anything to get you to buy, including massaging the truth, stretching the truth, redefining a truth paradigm and lying

Makes no difference. Put in your best offer, and stick to that.

It makes no difference as to who the seller is or where they work. You'd be a fool to offer more than you want to pay for the house.

the agent works for the seller...their job is the get the best price for their client whether that be a co-worker or a complete stranger (better the sale price, the better their commission)

If a buyer works for your agent then be very wary. However the seller working for the agent doesn't make a bit of difference in my opinion. I think you've misunderstood who estate agents work for and their role. They are paid by the seller to get them the best possible proceedable offer.
