Barclays Additions if I used the brakedown cover once?

Hi everyone.

I have made a claim for the Barclays Additions account that I have paid £15 per month for around ten years. I moved from a graduate account and I was told it would give me a higher over draft. Being a graduate I needed the money. I have never claimed or used any of the insurance but around 4 years ago I used the brakedown cover when I had broke down. They started my car as the battery was flat and that was it. Will I still be able to claim even though I used this benefit?

Thanks

K

use of a benefit does not prevent you from making the complaint but it does have some consequences.

1 - it shows you knew about the benefits - so weakens the complaint (for example, you cant say you didnt know)
2 - it shows you had a need for the benefits as you made use of them
3 - if they uphold your complaint, they can deduct the cost of the benefit used against the amount they are refunding.

  • Thank you. I have stated in the letter I sent that I knew about the additions but I was told that the account was for privileged members and was the only account available for an overdraft. As a young student just graduating I feel I was vulnerable and led to believe this account was the next progression from the graduate account. I hope it stands anyway, it's so much money to spend on something I've never used.
