As above, over last few weeks PC has slowed and freezes when browsing. Above shows when searching is frozen.
I've tried to find what it is but all references are to nuisance pop ups etc, I'm not getting them, just slow start and freeze. Any ideas.
Can';t find any recent auto installs that could be carrying this.
Answers in technophobic simpleton speak please, I'm not good with this stuff

Yes found that but still no further.
I have malwarebytes instralled but it was out of date so now updated and rescanned, quite a bit of stuff quarantined bu no better, still hangs.
Think it goes deeper as I getting a different "waiting for..." message each time, cas.nl.criteo.com last time. edited as after googling that it seems a very similar issue, but again the expected banners etc don't appear, just freeze/hang ups??
Does now seem to be limited to Ebay, not 100% on that though but have just tried to get it to freeze surfing here and it hasn't:huh::huh::huh:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Right this is now driving me nuts and if it freezes again I'm going to park the car on it.
Different lock on every time it freezes, can be any site and any reason.
So far have stopped using google chrome, thought it was an issue there, now everything going throgh Int Exp. No better.
Have paid for Kaspersky, Malwarebytes and windows firewall installed. Have turned these off in turn as suspected a clash but they has been running for a few years already???. Still no good.
All scans come up clean.
It took me 25 mins to even get here, or to any other site. Close to giving up, any helpI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

How much is on your machine? As it's clearly a bit stuffed it could be just as well to recommend recovering it to the base install to guarantee you get rid of whatever the cause is ..
Or if you backup regularly, revert to a backup.
Before that, you could also try these steps:

Completely trashing your user preferences might be enough to help ...Hello There. :beer:0 -
If it's really badly infected, the best thing to do would be to boot it from an antivirus rescue disk.
If you have access to another PC with Avast Antivirus on it, you can create a Rescue Disk.
