Northern & Shell comps (OK!, Express, Daily Star etc)

Options
Hey folks

Just to let you know I am still around :o and willing to keep posting up the Northern & Shell comps if you'd like me to :)

RL (work, kids etc) have occcupied my time recently and I was caught out with OK! and Express posting up the next month's comps earlier than I expected. Previously, they don't upload the comps until the present month's end date (ie. I'd been expecting them to open on 7th May :o:()

Many thanks to fire**fly for her PM and for posting the recent comps up when I wasn't around :A:T:T

I know that MSE rules state that comps can be posted by anyone, and maybe folks would prefer that this should apply to the Northern & Shell comps going forward  I am still willing to compile my 'lists' of these comps (particularly the recurring 'monthly' ones) and ensure that all comps across all sites are posted up (combining them into one thread whenever possible) but if folks would prefer it to be the 'first to see, first to post' rule for all N&S comps then I'm cool with that too :)

I've included a poll as it's a quick and easy way to get your feedback

How would you like the Northern & Shell comps posted on MSE 66 votes

I think if the entry routes are for a shared prize then it makes sense for all the entry routes as far as possible to be on one thread.

The MSE rules state anyone can post a competition. You can't poll members and get permission to be the only one to post certain competitions because a couple of people vote in a poll you have put up. The forum doesn't work like that. All it leads to is bullying of other members if they post a comp you usually post and none of us want this to become a precedent and posters then have to wade through comps finding out if someone else posts them etc. It's daft.

The rule is first come first served so just carry on and post those that haven't been posted in one thread. If someone else has posted one then leave that one out. I don't understand what is so hard about it.

Surely having all of these comps in one thread is much easier for both the person posting them and for the people entering. Otherwise, some comps might get missed out, because either way there will have to be some wading through posts (by people wanting to just post individual comps or by someone trying to put the remaining ones not already posted in one thread).

not always possible to have them all on one thread though sometimes as some of them opened earlier than usual this time & they may do that again,
    as said..

so do we all wait for them to be posted when they're all open & put on one thread or is it good to have the one's that are live at the time & posted straight away when spotted they're open by others?
i'm easy either way but know most peeps like the comps to be posted as soon as they are live.

If them's the rules, then them's the rules. There are exceptions only for people who buy magazines/newspapers, obviously.
I'm not sure why it's a problem posting comps individually. If someone finds more than one and they want to group them in one post then they can ... I can't see why it affects anyone else ...

They are not "rules", the most recent "guidance" is

    1. There are no hard and fast rules about who can post specific competitions. If someone posts something you feel you normally cover, please don't take it personally - competitions are for all.

    2. Equally, if you see another member has consistently posted certain competitions, it's probably good etiquette just to leave these.

Mind you, this is a 'rule' http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=14070827&postcount=7 and as we know that doesn't happen. I think the 'rules' could do with an overhaul and setting out more clearly.

I've never waded through all those stickied threads because there's so much of it, a lot of which is not adhered to so what's the point of it being there?

It's never been a "rule", there are Forum rules but almost everything else is just guidance, the most recent 28/04

    Hi all,

The MSE Comping community is one of the biggest in the UK. We're open to all and want everyone to be able to enjoy their experience here.

We're increasingly seeing reports about etiquette on this board. We're happy for you guys to manage this yourselves but to keep things harmonious, please can we ask you all to take note of these few points?

    1. There are no hard and fast rules about who can post specific competitions. If someone posts something you feel you normally cover, please don't take it personally - competitions are for all.

    2. Equally, if you see another member has consistently posted certain competitions, it's probably good etiquette just to leave these.

    3. Please don't send each other messages you'd be upset to receive yourself.

    Thanks,

    Forum Team
