Hong Kong to UK Transfers

Hi Everyone,

I recently inherited a property and money in Hong Kong as my father passed away. As I live in the UK, I would like to transfer the money to my UK account. His bank account is with Bank of China - with a HKD account and also a GBP account. I see two options here. Switch his account (if possible) to my name and move the HKD directly into the GBP account. Or to open a HSBC account in the UK, and then move the money from his accounts to my HSBC. I have looked into using Transferwise this is probably the cheapest way to transfer and has a better exchange rate, however they currently do no have the option to send HKD to GBP!

I also plan to sell the property at some point and reinvest in the UK. With a proportion of the money, I'd like to keep in a HKD account so that I can give my family money every month.

I am domiciled in the UK but have dual citizenship so I can open an account in Hong Kong without problem. What are my best options?
