Home Insurance and CCJ

I have insured my home and contents with Tesco for around 10 years, and have only just read whilst looking for a renewal that the don't insure people who have a unsatisfied CCJ against them. I have one from January 2015,but they offered me a renewal last year, so do I have to declare it, and what do I do if they won't insure my home?

When you take out a quote, it asks about CCJ's. When you re-new your policy, you're advised to read the renewal pack to ensure all the details are correct, and to let them know if anything has changed. As details have changed, you need to tell them about the CCJ, so it needs to be declared.

If they won't insure you, then you need to look elsewhere.

Of course you have to tell them. You already now they wouldn't have insured you had they known.

I would be quickly looking for an alternative and go elsewhere. The last thing you want is for a claim to happen and/or for them to cancel your cover.

How will I get cover if no-one will insure me. I don't know why it is a problem I am paying the CCJ off

It is a problem as far as getting off the peg online policies.

But you will get cover elsewhere.

Google home insurance with a ccj for plenty of choice or see a local broker (not Swinton).

Your current insurance is a waste of your money as you not disclosing your CCJ will allow them to void the policy in the event of any claim.

So cancel your policy and get alternative cover immediately.
