Britannia Parking

Hello,

My first post, apologies if I am asking the same old questions!
I received a PCN (Parking Charge Notice) from Britannia Parking at a retail park for failing to display a valid ticket. They offer 30 minutes free, but for the first time in literally 10 years I forgot to put a ticket on the car only to return 20 minutes later with a £70 notice - reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days.

I have no reason to appeal, as I forgot to put the ticket on the windscreen - but I think the fee is outrageous and just wondered what do I do?

Having read through a few threads the general consensus is to only pay Council & Police tickets and to ignore the rest, but my 14 days is up tomorrow so would love some advice!

Thanks in advance

If you've no reason to appeal, what options do you think you have?

But have you read the newbies FAQ sticky? Because that will tell you that not only do you not ignore this, but it will explain that the charge is eminently winnable, with a bit of research (in the right places) and work by you.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You have not read that on here have you?

Follow Umkomaas advice, then come back for any clarification, the 14 days is a bribe by scammers to get you to pay up without a fuss!

You have several reasons to appeal, it is excessive, a penalty, considerably more than LA fines, not covered by Beavis v PE, signage, contracts, permisssions, etc.

    Appeal and cost them money.

the fee was not considered outrageous by 3 courts in the Beavis case, the last being the Supreme Court last november, so that argument will fail

the "general consensus" for England and Wales is to appeal, only a fool would IGNORE a pcn in those 2 "countries"

there is no "14 days are up", that is in order to "plead guilty" and pay the lower amount, its a honeytrap to entice you in

  • Hello...i have received 4 letters from Britannia Parking for not buying a ticket at a car park in Chelmsford. I have been told and read on many forums to ignore it and they cannot do anything because they are private. I don't really want bailiffs at my door and i don't want to end up in court. It is not at £100...shall i pay ? (Ridiculous amount of money for how long i parked... Under 2 hours on a Sunday night was not aware i had to pay)

Amanda, you must start your own thread for personal attention from the guru's on here

You will not get bailiffs, that power is only in the hands of a court not the scumbags like Britannia

    start your own thread

Britannia are tame and nothing can develop from debt collector letters. So no, this isn't to be paid. But the forum posts you read must be from 2012! Why read 4 year old news when it comes to an issue where a company reckons you owe them money? Rhetorical question - this is midget_tree's thread about his/her 'PCN'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
