Dartford crossing - zero charge

I changed cars a couple of weeks ago, and added the new car to my Dart Charge account and removed the old one.

My wife recently did a return crossing in the new car in the mid-afternoon. The crossings have appeared on the crossing history on the account, but both have a charge of £0.00 listed against them. I dropped them an email to ask what's going on but haven't had a reply yet. It's a standard petrol car and we are not eligible for any discounts.

Anyone seen anything like this?

  • There is only one possible reason that I can think of and this is that the previous registered keeper of the car was disabled and it hasn't been updated on the DVLA system yet.

If the ANPR system misread your number plate and thought that it was a motorbike and not a car it would also be a zero charge but I can't see this happening on both crossings.

Plus if the ANPR misread the OP's number plate it wouldn't be showing up on the OP's account at all - it would be showing up in the acount of whoever owns the vehicle whose number plate the ANPR thought it saw (if it exists).

Well done - you were right. I got fed up with waiting and called them. The man I spoke to said it would sort itself out automatically once the DVLA updates their systems.

Good point. Why didn't I realise that? :wall:
