Hi,
I recently opened a new current account with TSB. I can't seem to get my debit card to work in TFL machines (I don't mean contactless oyster) I mean to top up my Oyster card.
I've used it in numerous other shops both chip and pin and contactless and I have money in the account.
It just says I have an error on my card. I've heard other people say things about petrol stations and offline and online cards which I admit I don't know much about and wondered if this was a known issue. I tied to look online and couldn't see anything.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Looks like it's a contactless card:

Most contactless cards tend to be offline capable cards (for example: pay at pump) so I'd put it down to an error with TfL's system. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Hi, yes it is contactless and its the TFL chip and pin machines that don't seem to like it.
So far I haven't found anywhere else that's an issue but I've tried a few machines on different days and its always the same. I'll probably buy petrol tomorrow so I'll check the pay at pump.0 -
Why not ditch the Oyster card and use the TSB on contactless instead. You should get 5% cashback too up to £100.0

As said, no need for the Oyster card, if your pay as you go. Waste of time.0

Thanks guys, the reason I use an Oyster card pay as you go is that I have a gold travel card coming into London and I get a 1/3 off payg oyster. Unless anyone knows if they can load that to a contactless debit I don't believe they can.

You can't use railcards with contactless cards so people still have to carry an Oyster card too.0

Thanks Feral Moon. That was as I thought. I'll try my TSB card at another station and see if I can get it to work. Thanks0
