Co-Op Energy biggest bunch of clowns around

Hi, the Co-Op are dispecable.

After 12 months and 2 Ombudsman investigations the Co-Op still as useful as a chocolate teapot.

For 12 months they refused to allow us to pay more in our direct debits. Yeah, that's right we wanted to pay more to the Co-Op each month.

Now, this is not because we are generous but because Co-Op are clueless. Our previous monthly direct debit with our previous supplier was £100 a month for Gas/Elect.

However the Co-Op said we only need to pay £60 a month as their tarrif was much cheaper. It was only after a few months I reliased thay were only charging us for Electricity and nothing for the GAS.

I kept ringing and they kept telling me everything was fine and I was being billed correctly even though I disagreed. I kept offering to pay more but they would not take my money.

Time and Time again the same old story so we got the Ombudsman involved who help us but still Co-Op would not up the direct debits.

Now we have left and all of a sudden "Oi, you owe us lots of money and took that over £600 directly via direct debit in one go.

Funny how they disagree with the customer and the Ombudsman that we are all in the wrong and they were doing it all correctly and then when we had enough and leave they sunndly see the error and without warning the money is taken.

Stay well clear of Co-Op.

I don't see where the problem is. If you know how much you underpaid each month, then just put aside the amount each month and have it available at the time they request the payment. I surely wouldn't involve the ombudsman for this.

    What did the Ombudsman rule?

You theoretically gained by holding onto your cash for a few extra months.

If they didn't bill you correctly for a period exceeding 12 months you may be entitled to have those excess months written off. Particularly so , depending on when you first raised the issue with them.
