I understand you are in a difficult situation OP but you can't say you're getting no support from the system when you are getting PIP, child benefit and will get tax credits.

Its the system thats not right, they can give me more than enough points to allow me higher rate PIP, but not ESA how does that figure.

Because PIP is not means tested. As you already know, ESA is means tested. That's why you haven't been awarded it, your household income is too high. It would probably be the same if you had simply lost your job and applied for JSA.
  • Thank you for all your kind advice, my original post has kind of been lost along the way, so I will sign of here. Many Thanks

Yes our income from my husband is average, or lower than the average income, but we do have a mortgage, bills, cars to run, and a child to support that soon adds up on a wage of 21k
We dont have any problem managing our money, but its the fact that I can not work now, and do not get any support from the system after working all my life.

Please, please remeber that PIP is intended to help those who who have living and mobility needs. This is not an income. I use this money for use of a car and help at home, due to my disabilities.

We do not get any working tax credits, but I am told we may get 65.00 from child tax credits, this is not confirmed by DWP yet.
The fact still remains I have fallen through the cracks in the system because I tried soooo hard to work, when I didnt have to, held on for as long as possible, and did the right thing...yet im penalised for this. I should have given up after my maternity and used my NI to claim contritbutions ESA, but I didn't

When i called DWP as I was astonished I could not get contributions ESA all I was asked was if my husband works more than 24 hours a week, nothing to do with how much he earns, I queried this with them, and told he needs to be on a low income or working less than 24 hours.

I do appreciate everyone advice, but I am asking for help regarding being too ill for work. I cannot get any support from the system, yet having paid in for over 20 years.
You don't actually know if you have enough points for ESA as you haven't applied for it from what you've said. Its the family income that stops you getting it which is a different argument.

Hi, ESA is for someone unfit to work, PIP(DLA) is to help with someone their care etc due to disability.
