Halifax Help To Buy ISA rate dropping!

Heads up,

Rate is due to drop on Tuesday 3rd May to 2.5%, for new applications.

Interested? open online or in branch before Sunday, to get the current rate of 4%.

    The 4% rate is a variable one, so if the interest rate goes down it will affect current customers

    Many years ago, Halifax would maintain higher rates for existing customers.

    They can have different rates based on date of opening.

    But if they maintain 4% on a product where they've cornered the market I'd be amazed.

    I should have said that being a variable rate it could go down, rather than will. I wonder how long it will be before they do reduce the rate for existing customers.

    They certainly got my business as a result of the 4%. Obviously it will be disappointing when it drops, but I'm not under any illusion that it will remain at that level forever. I'm sure most people realize it will go down eventually. Will reassess when it happens.
