Holy moley. What's the source for that? Your link doesn't seem to mention the new rate.
Does that mean existing Halifax HTB accounts will continue to get 4%?: )0 -

The 4% rate is a variable one, so if the interest rate goes down it will affect current customers

Many years ago, Halifax would maintain higher rates for existing customers.0 -

They can have different rates based on date of opening.
But if they maintain 4% on a product where they've cornered the market I'd be amazed.0 -

I should have said that being a variable rate it could go down, rather than will. I wonder how long it will be before they do reduce the rate for existing customers.

Promotional rate to attract business. Nothing more.0 -
They certainly got my business as a result of the 4%. Obviously it will be disappointing when it drops, but I'm not under any illusion that it will remain at that level forever. I'm sure most people realize it will go down eventually. Will reassess when it happens.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
