cancel a switch to apply for a new swtich

so, I'm with F.U, with a fix ending this month (April). I've switched via MSE to another fix with the same supplier.
Q. if I call F.U. and cancel this switch (once it's enabled) can I then go back to the cheap energy club tool and switch to another tariff suddenly newly made available from F.U. ?

Currently I'm waiting for the initial switch to go through should be a few days because I'm already with them. So now when I go into the Cheap Energy Club, I can't choose another switch because the buttons are all greyed out.
When the switch occurs, does the ability to switch come back on the Cheap Energy Club comparo tool? Not sure how that becomes enabled.

Q. Do I cancel the switch directly with F.U. initially and then come back to the Cheap Energy Club tool and apply for the new tariff? Or do I just apply for the new tariff first and then tell F.U. to cancel the original switch?

The new tariff option is better than the one I had signed up for.
thx for any help.

Q 1. The Cheap Energy Club will say switch in progress until such a time that the new supplier informs them otherwise. This can take some time , upto 3 months.

However you can email CEC and tell them that you have cancelled the switch (once you've done that with the appropriate supplier of course) and they will reset your account so that the system no longer thinks you are switching.

OP - you need to check FU's ts and cs. If you switch to a new tariff with the same supplier then there is no cooling off period. It follows that FU might argue that you are in contract and they will want to apply contract termination fees.

    Hi sixpack15,

Your account usually updates about 12 weeks after your switch completes, once your supplier confirms to us that it's complete. If your switch is complete and you want to switch again before your supplier confirms it to us, you can drop us an email to energyclub AT moneysavingexpert. com and we'll be able to manually update your account for you so that you're able to compare/switch again, if you wanted.

The same goes for a cancelled switch, it can sometimes take a little while for suppliers to update us, so if you've cancelled a switch and your account hasn't yet updated, just drop us an email with more details and we can remove the switch from your account for you.
