ASOS parcel 'tried to deliver' - no you didn't!!

Options
I recently ordered a parcel on ASOS (DPD couriers) and paid to get premier so I could have next day delivery and wear my purchases at the weekend.

The parcel was due to be delivered on a Friday. I responded to a text/email saying I was happy for the parcel to be left in the welly box outside my house if I wasn't in.

I received a text whilst I was at home waiting for my parcel stating 'sorry we have just tried to deliver your parcel but you weren't in'

I even ran outside immediately to check but no sign of a van, no-one had knocked on the door and no parcel in the welly box...there clearly had been no attempt whatsoever to deliver it. I was then unable to get it redelivered/collected until Monday!

Has anyone else had this experience? I understand that there if a lot of pressure with the volume of online orders but websites should not promise next day delivery if their drivers clearly run out of time and do not even try to deliver your parcel!! I only paid for next day delivery because I wanted the clothes for the weekend and didn't even have the option to collect them that day.

Sorry rant over!!

Had exactly the same thing recently with Hermes who use a courier, when I queried it she claimed that she had definitely tried to deliver, unknown to her we have two security cameras one pointed at the front door and the other on the approach to our property, when I asked them how on checking both my cameras nobody had been to my property at the time she claimed that day they still tried to claim she had been and I was told she did not like being told she was a liar.

I contacted Amazon who had sent the package and they opened a dispute with Hermes and I eventually received an apology, next time I was due to receive a package sent by Hermes it was a male courier and I not seen her again.

We've had couriers stick unable to deliver slips through our letterbox when the front door's been open and we've been in the kitchen next to it. seems to be happening far too frequently recently

Email them and tell them that after viewing your security camera footage, you know that delivery wasn't attempted. You now require immediate delivey and refund of premium paid for quick delivery. They don't know whether or not you have a camera.

Been told 'attempted to delivery but you weren't in' when I was and listening, been right next to the front door .., so many times I'm pleasantly surprised when it doesn't happen lol.

One of the reasons I stopped paying for amazon prime was because next day delivery ceased to mean much.

Sometimes mistakes do happen but also you get people who can't be bothered.

The worst to me was 8 years ago I had a £600 pc stolen as the courier (a family with a teenage son) handed it to the first person they saw who was leaving the building not even asking name though Hermes were a nightmare too, living above 2 pubs they would dump my parcels on my doorstep and mark them as delivered and of course the amount of stuff that was stolen due to that, even caught strangers walking off my with packages in the past

One time was funny as I lived in a block of flats and all but mine were housing association so had generic red doors, the courier claimed he delivered as he clearly remembered it was a red door! (mine was black) He must of known all the blocks of flat in the street that were HA owned had red doors.
