I've been really happy with a Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50.

I went from a Kindle Fire and would never go back, not even as cheap as they are now (mine was a gift)

Far wider range of apps available and often the Android versions are superior to Kindle Fire versions.

Tablets don't need added security as long as you are sensible. PCs are under constant threats. Your IT experts in banking will recomend you use the Bank's App on a phone or tablet rather than on a PC.

If you are on the App you cannot click on any malicous pop ups.
Seems to me the safest way would be to use an iPad as I don't trust Windows or Android which are far too open to hacks.

Glad that you clarified using a banks app, rather than using a tablet over a pc, as it was a bit of a sweeping statement, but would also add to make sure that you are using secure wifi, and also not using a rooted tablet or phone.

Why do you need a tablet? Do you have a smartphone, or a simple mobile? I just ditched my Hudl for a Wiley Fox Swift: https://www.wileyfox.com/swift/

    Available here: http://www.ebuyer.com - QuickFind: 724057

I can do everything on this that I could with the Hudl, and much more. I even have Kindle installed upon it.

I have a simple phone, that's all I need, don't want a clever phone nor do I need one. The reasons I want a tablet are in my first post.

I don't really want to pay IPad prices, thinking more along the lines of up to about £200.

If you want an ipad and not interested in the most up to date version consider a second hand one.

I just brought an ipad 3 for my sons birthday for just over £100.

Only a 5" screen.....OK for very occasional browsing, but not ideal for anything prolonged for a lot of people. Nice phone though.
Any of the Samsung tablets would be a good buy. Some good Windows tablets out there, but they would need to be checked to see if all the required apps are available.
