the GP records are kept for 10 years after death.

it advises hospital records for 8 years after death or end of treatment, different if children or maternity.

Are you actually trying to find the person or something about the records?

Medical records on individuals are generally closed for up to 100 years (where they exist at all) to anyone except the person themselves.

Even if they have the records, they will not give you any information.

I am trying to find out if my mother was a patient the Royal Bucks Hospital in 1950. I am trying to trace a sibling and have evidence she lived 100 yards from the hospital in 1950.Mother has passed away and at the time it was a maternity hospital.

If you are looking for a sibling, start with their birth certificate and trace them forward from that (looking for marriages, children - possible deaths, electoral register entries, social media accounts etc.). Not sure how you think any medical records would help.

Write to their subject access team.
Maybe they will be able to help something.

Her medical notes will have been destroyed 25 years after she gave birth or 8 years after her last attendance,,whatever was longer

It is unlikely that there will be anything from the 50's left to look at.

As TonyMMM says, you need to look for birth certs etc.
