Home insurance for high value single items

All,

Does anyone know of a home insurance company that covers a single item of jewellery of up to £12k.

We currently have it insured on a stand alone policy, but would like to amalgamate the two in our next run.

Thanks in advance

That is a question that cannot be answered. It depends on the value of other valuables, overall Contents required, what security you have etc.

You need to speak to an Insurance Brokers. They will go through a questionnaire to understand what you want insured and they will find the best company to match your needs.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Run your details through a comparison site. Then try DL, Aviva, Hiscox etc

Most policies would let you add it as a specified item. For example, we have Nationwide Home Insurance:
    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/insurance/home-insurance/combined-insurance

The single item limit for valuables is £4,000, but that simply means that anything worth less than £4,000 doesn't have to be specifically named. We have an item worth £8,000 specified on the policy - it lists its name and that value.

In general though, standard contents cover won't cover the item outside the home. For that you'll normally also need to add on Personal Possessions cover, and specify the item under that too.

Nothing for it but to do lots of quotes yourself, or use a broker to find the best deal.
