Gate problem

We are collecting a new Puppy in a few days time and are concerned that it can escape through a gap at the bottom of the garden gate - so are looking for a filler rubber flap (thick - like a car mudflap) to fill the 5" gap
The gate is on a slope - so a piece of wood will not be any good............
Any suggestions as to where these can be brought from ?

  • If you have a look at this ebay listing:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEOPRENE-RUBBER-SHEETS-VARIOUS-SIZES-AND-THICKNESSES-/331105614118?var=&hash=item4d176eb926:m:mewRRvNl2iQ__HuU-jKNkOg
you should be able to find some suitable rubber. It would probably be best to go for the thickest size so that it doesn't flex too much. (I'm sure that there are plenty of similar listings).

It might also be an idea to give the rubber and the bottom of the gate a spray with doggie deterrent as puppies can be extremely inquisitive and if your one sees a possible escape route, they will probably keep trying until they finally get out.

Google for garage door weather strips, and look for those intended for lower edges of the doors. I'm sure one of these could be adapted quite easily
  • Wood can be cut at an angle ?????

Plank of wood cut to fill gap - then attached with two hinges across the top so it can be lifted up and out of the way....

Someone posted virtually the same problem a couple of months ago :)

    HTH
