Will they haggle these days ?. Cheapest quotes among others ive had are with EDF and Npower, 30 quid a month cheaper than EON. Is there any point phoning EON to see what theyll do with the price, or is it not even worth calling ?. (Currently with EON btw)

Are you talking about a residential/domestic supply?
If so, no energy provider is prepared to 'haggle' - you will only be offered one of their tariffs.
I would urge you to consult a comparison site and find the best deal for you (from the whole of market). Don't forget possible cashback when switching via the comparison sites recommeded on this site.0 -

Morning dragonfly2008
I have to agree with footyguy here, we can't haggle, the tariff's that we have are the ones shown on the website, we can't price match.
You may want to have a look on a comparison site to compare the whole of market and see what's best for you.
I'd also suggest having a look around our website as there's all sorts of things that can help on there. You may also like to have a look at the Direct Debit manager, it's an online tool that let's you keep control of your payments.
But please ask me if you need any help.

Just one other thing I would add to all the above is that if you really can save £30 per month (£360 p.a) with other suppliers, Big 6 ones at that, then this would suggest you are currently on Eon's expensive variable rate tariff.
That being the case, I'm sure Eon could offer you a lower priced tariff from their current range if you really do want to remain with them - indeed it probably should be mentioned on your bill/statement.
If you consult a comparison site, you will see where Eon's cheapest tariff for you lies in comparison to other tariffs available from other suppliers.
Imho, I don't think Eon's tariffs are very competitive at present, unless you manage to grab a 'collective switch' tariff, but I'm not sure if any are currently on offer (and you usually have to be pre-registered to be offered them anyway)0 -

Thanks for the reply (you too footyguy).
I've used the gas and electric usage data from the most recent bills ive had from eon to get quotes, on comparison sites and on their own websites. E-on's best quote was 112 or so a month, npower and EDF 82/83 a month for exactly the same energy usage, paying exactly the same way.
I cant remember the figures exactly, but i think savings are made because their gas was a touch cheaper than e-ons but not by much, and their electric quite a bit more cheaper, although i could be wrong, or the other way around. Seems their current deals are just more competitive one way or another than e-on anyway. I got a quote from eon a while ago, and they actually quoted similar to EDF and Npower among others, but when i went back it seemed their prices had gone up even though i was using all the same data. But anyway, using the data from our most recent bills, got quotes, and e-on are £30 more expensive.
The only reason i asked about haggling. I remember the days of a sketchy energy salesman turning up at the door, it always seemed to be theyd beat whatever youre currently paying to move to them .... im glad those days have gone it seems.
So we might as well move energy supplier then if eon cant really do anything, £30 a month is a substantial saving for us.0 -

This is not necessarily so, as I did my comparison, last month, using my last year's usage and individual websites; the companies compared being the Big 6 and smaller ones that I've heard of, such as Ovo,Co-op etc..
My present supplier was still the cheapest,( by a small amount in one case), but a few were £200-£300+ more expensive, on equivalent tariff fixes.0 -

Morning dragonfly2008,
I'm sorry I can't do anything about the unit prices for you
We do offer discounts for things like paying by Monthly Direct Debit and having paperless bills, we've the E.ON rewards etc.
I can't give loads of details on here, but if you do need my help, please ask.
Thank you

The OP may well getter a better overall deal by selecting separate suppliers for gas and electricity. Don't be seduced into thinking that discounts are worth having: they are usually linked to higher unit prices.0

If you like E.On (IME they do have good customer service), and particularly if you have their smart meters, you might think it worth paying a little extra to stay with them. Current smart meters will almost certainly become "dumb" if you switch supplier.
If you do decide to stay, keep an eye on their fixed rate tariffs, as they have been known to have short availability. Version 18 of one tariff lasted two days, before becoming version 19, which lasted 2 weeks before becoming version 20. Best deal for an account I look after was version 19, which I was able to switch the account to before it expired. Switches within E.On incur no penalty and are instantaneous if you want them to be, but of course you don't get any cashback like you often can through switching sites if you change supplier.
In the case of the above account, the smart meter was the over-riding factor, although the available rate was also the most competitive amongst the better known suppliers at the time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
