Hi,
I have discovered a lump on the back of my dog's neck. Seems hard to press. Just at shoulder blades in between. He was chipped months ago. Could it be this? Mind is going like the clappers

One of mine is covered in lumps, but they're just fatty lumps. Best bet is to get it checked by the vet and get your mind put at ease0

Not guaranteed (of course) but until you see the vet, a rough guide is that a lump which does not seem joined to tissue below is usually benign. (My springers, when in their teens, were covered in fatty lumps)
Having said this, about a month ago, I noticed that my 13 year-old cavalier's pea-sized lump on his thigh was three or four times its usual size and seemed joined to something deeper, by a thin 'chord'.
As it was MOT time, the vet had a look and stuck a needle in ,noting that the lump seemed full of blood. He suggested watching for a couple of weeks and going back if it stayed the same or grew, but he suspected an infection.
Happily, it is back to normal pea size and no longer has a root.0 -
Given the site it's very likely to be chip related. Either from the original microchip ping or something has irritated it.
My dog was vaccinated and it just happened to be very close to the chip. She developed a firm lump where you describe. In a couple of,weeks it had gone. I did take her to the vets who scanned the lump and located the chip.i was really worried that it was chip induced malignant sarcoma but apparently that is so incredibly rare , it's almost impossible, didn't stop me worrying of course!Norn Iron Club member 4730
