Can i claim my deceased wifes PPi back

I am 71 years old, My Wife died a month ago,(30th of March) today I received a letter from her credit card company telling me I am liable for her £2100 debt. They also said that she had no PPI but I have a letter dated 2009 explaining to her the important changes to her Payment Protection Insurance. That in future she would be covered for Accidental Death etc.
I know that she was paying it for at least 10 years but that coverceased when she reached the age of 70. I did suggest that she claim it back but she thought they would cancel her card if she did.
Is that too much Information?
AS I am now liable for the debt, can I claim the PPI back myself?

Firstly, you are not responsible for her dept, her estate is. After funeral costs did she leave sufficient assets to pay the CC dept?
Secondly if she was owed a refund for PPI payments then that would be a dept owed to her estate, and her executor should be able to claim that back.0 -
No not in Cash. She was intestate (no Will) so my Solicitor is dealing with Probate. Thank you for your help.0

Sounds like she owned property though so the estate was not insolvent (otherwise why hire a solicitor), and the CC debt will need to be paid so hand that letter over to your solicitor, and raise the PPI issue with them as well.0 -
I will do that tomorrow. Thanks0
