Will I owe it all back? So worried

Advice needed please. So I started claiming for working tax credits last November. I received redundancy last June, taking home around 32k (which I used to pay off debts) so now I've had my P60 through which is showing my income as being £37685 for last tax year. I was receiving £270 a week for working and child tax credits, but last week I only received £14, so I rang up and they changed my earnings back to what I have been getting since starting this job in January (which is 12k) but now I have received a tax credits annual declaration (which I had no idea I had to do till receiving it today) and it says to use the amount on your p60 for earnings. Does this mean I will receive nothing this year because I earnt to much last year or will I just ring up again so they can adjust my earnings for what I currently earn? I'm so scared I will lose all my tax credits, I am single working mum and I won't be able to afford my rent or nursery bill. Any advice gratefully received. And will I owe back the tax credits I received between last November and April??

I don't know anything really about Tax Credits as I've never claimed and all that I've read just confuses me. I'm not confident that I could give any advice so it's best that I don't even try!

Check back on here tomorrow when people that can advise you are likely to be online.

Try not to fret too much because whatever happens about any possible overpayments can always be sorted.

  • So sorry, didn't see your replies! Ok i think I'm probably being really thick here, but my income for 2015/2016, is this before or after tax?

My income for this year is £12,000

my child care costs are £180 a week

I have just one child with no disabilities

    Thank you for your help.
