He's been to the vets this morning and has been wormed and vaccinated. Booked for neutering this Friday and then more vaccs in a few weeks. Happy that he is being neutered quickly as he hasn't sprayed at all but shakes his tail like he's thinking about it (but perhaps doesn't know how just yet).
£1,000 isn't very much coverage. The average cost of surgery from emergency admission to discharge and follow up treatment is £1,500. Some claims will be much higher and some lower.
I personally do not insure at all but I have £3,000 set aside for any possible emergency as I'm quite sure that amount of money will be enough for the majority of vet bills.
If your cat develops diabetes the monthly cost of the drugs and the special diet required are around £100 per month. A £1,000 limit wouldn't be enough.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

May I ask if you don't mind what the premium is?

It's £9 a month.
I know it's not a load (it's up to £6k a year, but £1k per condition per year).
I'm putting money in a savings pot alongside the premium so that I can have a reserve to pay over the amount. It has a very low excess though (£50) which is useful imo.0 -
Does his tail kind of vibrate in the air? If so that is a sign of excitement, so don't worry too much about the dreaded spraying.
Yes! He sticks it straight up and buzzes it quickly for a few seconds. I thought it was a boy spraying thing, as other cats I've had don't do that (in fairness the only cat I've had from a kitten had no tail so I wouldn't know!) Glad to hear it's a sign of excitement. He is so affectionate and is living the life of riley at the moment as he gets non-stop cuddles from both of us as soon as we get in. Last night he spent all evening on my lap sleeping while I was reading my magazine. Then he came to bed and slept between us again and this morning he woke us up about 20 minutes before our alarms so he just got double cuddles in bed all morning. Spoilt! But he had been to the vets so I felt a bit bad.0
