I have 20 minutes to get to the other station. And it says payg only. I'm guessing this is what I will be doing by paying by contactless card?0 -

Are you asking whether the same applies to contactless payments?
Here is the first sentence from that webpage linked to earlier:Our Oyster and contactless payment systems allow customers to interchange between stations, or parts of the same station in some cases, without being charged for two separate journeys.0 -
I'm sorry to be saying it, but you are mistaken.
Please read the TfL document linked to in post#2.
Here's the link again: TfL - Out-of-station interchanges.

This thread is rather cryptic so I am a bit puzzled as to what the journey taken is. I am reluctant to give out advice if I am unsure of the journey, as PAYG pricing is very complex. But it sounds like you have got the answer now.0 -
That's right.

But I did say where the journey taken is, so not sure why it's cryptic.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

My Oyster card doesn't have a magnetic stripe on it.

Here is the first sentence from that webpage linked to earlier:
The TfL spreadsheet is not ideal in the way it's worded - it looks as if it was originally for internal use, not for public info.
The issue is the intelligence of the various card systems. For whatever reason, tickets that solely work via a magnetic strip (which is black and on the back) cannot support some of the more complex interchanges. Oyster and Contactless are what they mean by "payg".0 -
