Paying for children's show tickets

I'd really never thought of it that way. I was  when I got told that someone had paid £100 for tickets for 'the rest of the family to watch'I think in some families there is an expectation that other relations *must* come, and I think in that situation, where they are effectively being strong-armed into going, it is reasonable for the parents who are insisting on their being there, to pay.
In the early days, only me and DH and DS went. As DD progressed, we started getting requests from other people to watch the next show.0 -
I pay - always have. My rellies live quite a while away so it costs them just to get here. I also pay for others who support my DD as they do it for just that- support. IN my experience it's hardly a night out at the opera !!Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0

Don't this 2 sentences contradict each other?Surely everyone is as excited as the parents / grandparents .... No?
:D
My Dad started asking to come and watch DD perform, when she got cast in a professional show. My Mum would watch at any stage, but could never attend school productions due to lack of tickets available or work commitments.
My friend asked recently to come along. She said she's watching dd now before the productions she's in are outside her price range. :rotfl:0 -
We had 6 of us go to watch DD, which was me, DH, DS1, DS2 (at uni), MIL & DS2's girlfriend. Was supposed to be my dad too but he had to cancel after I bought the tickets so DS2's gf went. Think they cost around £50 for all of us. Happy to cover everyones, MIL helps us out with DD at times, my dad always offers to pay but I cover him. My DS's are her brothers so I pay for them. DS2's gf offered to pay but she's a student too so didn't take anything.
We're a small family and I don't mind paying once a year. Would be different if more often or if tickets were dearer. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
