Change of name - Uni Refusing..

    I work for a university, and we're quite strict on what we do an don't accept when it comes to name changes. For instance, if you came to me and requested a name change without any supporting documents showing the recent change (i.e. decree absolute or deed pole certificate), then I wouldn't be able to do it, regardless of whether you had your birth certificate. (Well i could do it, but I'd get my wrist slapped for it). I can completely appreciate what a pain it is for you, but if that's your university's policy then that's what they'll enforce. But of course someone could change it with discretion, anything's possible if it's not the law!
