I have just bought a new pedal bin and when I put my foot on it it moves. Is there something I can put on the bottom to stop it sliding?

    Google 'adhesive rubber feet'.
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.

Unfortunately that won't work as the bottom of the bin doesn't touch the floor - it is on a circular raised metal base.

I had this, the rubber sticky things didn't stick for long because they don't have much surface to stick to. In the end I glued little blocks of wood to the inner side of the bin underneath and stuck the rubber thingys onto them. The rubber thingys did need replacement about every 6 months.

You can get circular non-slip mats that go under dog bowls. Could you use something like this?

The pound shops, Home Bargains, etc sell non slip mats on a roll. You can cut to size if required. Although they're not expensive, they do work.

At any market, or £1 shop, you can get a long roll (looks about the size of a roll of tin foil would) of black rubber matting that's to stop things sliding around. It's not solid, it's an open weave. £1, black, rubberised, matting. Cut a chunk off, lob it under the bin. Job done. It'll be on the stall/section where you get all the other cheap/random kitchen items such as plastic storage boxes and steam bags and assorted kitchenalia.

Thanks for all the replies, especially to Kingfisherblue and PasturesNew. I bought a roll of non-slip matting in Poundland, found it next to dishcloths, and it works perfectly.
