Appliances in a new kitchen.

Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone can answer my question. We're having an extension added on to our bungalow so we're getting a new kitchen. Is there a reason why kitchen designers don't seem to put freestanding appliances side by side? The plan that I've had done shows the washing machine, a cupboard, then the dishwasher.
Does it look better together or separate? Would they vibrate against each other?
Many thanks in advance

It's done for a number of reasons. One is so you don't have a too long a piece of unsupported worktop (although it is possible to have a support panel between the two appliances. It's also to do with access to the water and waste supplies. If you have a dishwasher next to say a washing machine, then one has to have these pipes running round the back of the other one. Often the standard waste and inlet hose aren't long enough for this and it will require extending the waste and to buy an extra long supply hose. Aesthetically, it also stops you having an expanse of what machines in an otherwise fitted and coordinated kitchen.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
