Meter Readings and crappy GB Energy
Comments

I thought so! GB Energy are just extremely unhelpful, and just keep telling me that because all my usage is in the day I should switch to a single rate, despite me telling them over and over that my actual day usage in the day time is about 2 or 3 units, and the vast majority of it seems to incorrectly be being applied to the day rate over night.
So, do you think its worth me taking the risk and getting them out? I cant see any other way out at the moment...0 -
I ve just had a look at the Ampy 5224e meter on the internet and its the type of meter I see in use for solar panels although I ve only seen it for single rate applications. Bit of a long shot, but could you possibly be looking at the solar panel meter and not the normal eco 7 meter as that meter is operating very strangely with its 15 hrs on day rate and 9 hrs on night rate..Its usual for a total register on digital eco 7 meters as well. If not , I agree its a faulty meter and you should be ok to request either a new meter of if the dont believe you , a check meter.0

Where in the country are you?
Some electricity distributors (mainly in the Kent region) have "split" economy 7 times. You get 7 hours, but with a gap in the middle of the night. So, you might get cheap rate from 22:30 - 00:30 and then from 02:30 to 07:30.0 -
I'm in a block of flats, and I'm fairly sure we don't have solar. There are 7 meters in the cupboard, one for each flat and then the landlords supply. Decent suggestion though so thanks for that! I'm in the north west, near Preston to be precise. As an experiment I'm setting my alarm today for 1am, the time that my heaters are set to come on. I'm going to go down and see what rate my meter is running on at that point, and also look at the changes. I'll then set it again for when they all go off at 6 and do the same, and then check it again when I get up at half 7. That should let me determine exactly when my electric is being used...0

Well that answers that! Depsite GB Energy telling me over and over that my economy 7 times are from 00:30 to 7:30, they arent! It turns on at 10:30, and off at 00:30, and then when I checked it at 7:30 it was just switching over so I'm guessing it must turn back on at 2:30 as you said! Thats on the meter time anyway, in real time it goes from 11pm to 1am, and then 3am to 8am. Madness. Anyway I'll reset everything tonight to come on at 3, or 2:30 on the meters time, and lets see what happens!0
