Hi, I've got a serious problem which I didnt actually know till middle of March when my partner told me how much he had earned......2014/2015 he earns £22800 so I estimated £25000 for 2015/2016 as he was in anew job I really had no idea wat so ever on what he would be earning he was no help either lol it turns out he's earnt £29800 which he told me in March what he thought he would earn I was angry of course and and asked why he hadn't told me months ago that he would earn more an give me a realistic estimate so I could of called Hmrc to amend the claim, he's now sorry of course and didn't realise that it would be dropping from £5000 to £2500 before anything were affected so he thought we wouldn't have too much overpayment but now I'm worried as it's quite a gap and worried how much I will receive and how much they will take from me.....if I had of known sometime last year I would of amended the claim but now I'm worried what's going to happen and how much percent they take from me I was gettin around £70 a week for 2 children now down to £66 whilst I'm awaiting his p60 and renewal so I can ring and sort it out.........someone plz help stop me worrying I know this is potentially bad
Thanks

The change in the disregard is for 2015/16 and 2016/17 income.
The £5000 still applies to 2014/15 and 2015/16. So your 2015/16 claim was based on £22,800 and if you actually earned £29,800 the claim should have been based on £24,800. This would lead to an overpayment of approx £820.
You can't update 2015/16 until you get the renewal but can update a new estimate for 2016/17.0 -
Thank you darksparkle so may not be as much as I'm fearing I was thinking thousands tbh as this is the 1st full year we have claimed tax credits before as he's never lived with me before so I really don't know how it all works and with all the new changes as well I just get confused and end up worrying too much.
Thank you so much0
