As i say it might be a good idea if you report it, might help some way to catching them.
Yeah that's what I thought initially ...I will report it in order to be safe from all the aspectsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If I had a mobile phone stolen (or £540 depending on which way you look at it) my first thought wouldn't be whether it would affect my credit history.
If you were mugged in the street for it you'd certainly go to the police, wouldn't you? I'm wondering why you're even asking the question?0 -

Of course I agree with you ...and indeed I contacted the police. But I had to think about implications for my credit report because my bank kept a notice of it. And I have seen that there are CIFAS section in the credit report which may affect me in the long run. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Why would you report it to the police, if they don't know about it already you are only risking them deciding it's all your fault. Just leave it alone and forget about it.
Perhaps I've just had bad experiences but the police are not really there to help you, more to shaft you.0 -
You would report it to the police to show honestly prior to them being potentially contacted by your bank.
The bank would NEVER have advised you whether they were contacting the police or even if they were just passing your details to their fraud department (which is EXTREMELY likely that they did) as this is what is called whistleblowing.... of which is an extremely serious offence for any bank employees.
You should be reporting this to A. show your innocence in the matter and B. at least allow the police to try and trace who is buying goods with counterfeit notes.0 -

To be honest that what I thought...so that's exactly what I did! Reported it to the police in order to show them honesty about how things happened....and I think I will be ok!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
