Replace Hot Water Tank with a Combi Boiler - How much??
Comments
-
Pealy, I have now installed a thermostatic bath-shower mixer tap and it regulates the water temperature from my to my combi boiler system brilliantly! The pressure is high, though fully adjustable, and the temperature rock steady, whether set at a high or low setting. No problem if someone turns on a tap in the kitchen either.
In England these thermostatic units are expensive, Scewfix has then starting at £200! I picked mine up while in France for 43 Euros, and incorporate ceramic cartridges (no maintenance) rather than traditional washers. Typically, the only problem is, the french set do not suit the standard British bath fittings, where the holes are at 7inch centres. I had to adapt the holes in my bath to 150.

When done make sure you turn the immersion off as it eats electricity by the bucket load.0 -
If it's thermostatically controlled, jack, yes.0

we have just had a baxi 40 duetec installed.. and we are having problems getting good pressure. The system is fine when using 2 taps but when 3 and 4 are used the pressure drops predictably. My questions is how can i get around this... I have been told two things increase the mains to house pipe to 32mm... alot of work as we are quite a way from the road.. My thinking is to reconect the old cold water tank in the loft to feed the cold supply and leave the combi to do the hot water only.. I was going to put a timed valve on the cold tank so it fills during the night..to prevent pulling from the mains at the same time.. Please help0

There is somthing that needs to be mentioned: A combi works at a higher pressure than a ' traditional' system and often leads to leaks in the radiator valves so you need to allow to upgrade these as well.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

In a family house,a stored hot water system will beat a combi hands down. Modern hot water cylinders have high recovery rates and id much rather have one than running off litres of warm water wastefully waiting for it to warm up in a combi. Think carefully before installing a combi.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
