in Credit cards
Hi,
I was thinking about purchasing a high priced item by direct debit (pay it off in 12 months interest-free) but i was wondering whether it would be beneficial to get a credit card with 24 months interest-free and to place a direct debit on the card to have it paid completely in this period.
My question is "is there any adverse affects of gettinga credit card for this purpose?" and "whether having a credit card with a direct debit would improve my credit rating over going to a direct debit set up with a finance company like V12 Finance?"
Thanks

As far as I am aware you cannot set a DD onto a credit card as it must be from a bank account.0

Using a credit card responsibly can help build a credit history.
However, if you have limited history, getting a decent 0% card may be a challenge.0 -
I think the OP intends on having the direct debit set up to pay off the credit card.
If you're financially disciplined it's an excellent idea. It will provide you with flexibility if you need to alter your payments one month (of course have a plan to repay by the end of the 0% period), it will give you a longer repayment period, and will also build your credit history.0
