Does a radiator have scrap value?

Hi everyone, I've just had a radiator replaced and am wondering if I should take the old one to a scrapyard rather than to the tip.
I don't know what it's made of or how old it is. It's this style but 960mm x 700mm: http://www.kbfix-it.co.uk/images/br04.jpg
Could this be worth anything?

Mild steel is at an all time low in terms of scrap value. The last time I took any in it getting 2.5p per kilo. Your rad probably weighs 20 kilos. So it's worth 50p.
You work out if its worth taking to the scrap yard.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
copper, brass, lead and aluminum are worth weighing in. Mild steel, cast iron etc are pretty much worthless. From a renovation of a house stripped out old taps, lead pipes etc we don't actually do a scrap run - we build it up and go when we have a coupe of house's worth, and we get something like £100 - £110 typically. We don't bother with Aluminum as we don't get enough.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Ok, so you are saying my radiator is made of aluminium?
If that's the case, I won't bother. I may try it on freecycle but I doubt anyone wants it!0 -

Do you not get any rag and bone men around your way?
You should try living around here. About 3 times a week we get a man or two driving around in a open tray lorry come by screaming "ANY OLD IRON" over the loudspeaker. They pick up all your scrap and cash it in for the 50p which goes towards the petrol for the lorry.

No-one wants it...are you kidding me. There's good money in that radiator.

I haven't noticed any round here but we did have them where I grew up. When they shout 'Any old iron' it sounds nothing like those words. You would just hear this loud voice and know it was them.0 -

The ones round here shout "Rag and bone" (which sounds more like "ragboooooooooonnnnnee!") and once in a while we get one which plays the Steptoe & Son theme at a stupidly earsplitting volume as it drives around the whole estate.
I concur with the other poster who said the fairies will take it away - the polite fairies around here will even knock on and ask for permission.0 -
Put it outside yesterday and it was gone within a few hours!0

Yes, Steptoe and Son played full volume on a Sunday morning!
We had a new kitchen fitted and had a skip on the drive. Old units etc went into the skip but the double oven, sink top etc were placed behind the skip by the fitters. We went to bed around 11pm, got up 7ish and lo and behold, all the metal had disappeared😀
Not a problem. The fitters expected that to happen and saved room in the skip.0
