Right, so after tax/pension and my travel comes out of my wage i take home about £1450 Monthly (Before OT, which i'd probably say i earn an extra £100 a month on average)
I lived with two friends a couple of years ago but since then i've moved back with my parents (Which i really want to change) But i dont know anyone that needs someone to live with and i really dont think i could live with a stranger. Is that amount of take home money feasible to survive on in South East London? I dont think i can find anywhere that has rent for much less than £700, am thinking it would be a MASSIVE struggle...
Am i living in a dream world thinking this is do able?
Thanks.

That is do-able. You're going to have £750 left over after paying the rent which makes it quite do-able.
Most living costs are the same no matter where you live in the country. The only exception being rent which you've factored in already.
Yes London has many more opportunities to spend money but it's like any place in the UK you can spend as little or as much as you like on discretionary non-essential expenses.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

It's doable, you just begrudge the cost of the rent.
You've not said what sort of place you'd get, but it's possible you're looking at places that you'd want, rather than what you need. A self-contained studio flatlet can be £100/month less in rent and the council tax might be a bit less and the bills will be a tad smaller.
If you don't mind living next door to a (nosey?) landlord, then if you can find an annexe they can sometimes be a good bet as they can be inclusive of bills. Not everybody likes living next to the LL though as they feel "watched/judged".0 -
I'd be looking for a studio flat (The cheaper the better) I'd be more than happy to just basically have a room with a kitchen and toilet, as long as i have enough room for a bed/tv/pc I'd be set. I right in thinking £650-700 for that kind of place is the right sort of price?0

£700 won't get you a lot in SE London.0 -

This, with bells on. You're looking at rent that's less than half of your take-home pay. That is very affordable.I right in thinking £650-700 for that kind of place is the right sort of price?
You know where you want to be, and what's advertised for how much around that area. You tell us.0
