I had to cancel my insurance with Churchill because the car had to be scrapped. I received THREE identical copies of letters confirming the cancellation and an additional letter about refund into my bank account. These were all posted separately so FOUR lots of postage.
I emailed them to say I thought they would be able to charge less for cancellation if they didn't spend so much on duplication and were more efficient. I received TWO separate identical letters in response to my email.
Basically their admin leaves a lot to be desired and I won't be using them again.

it was the circumstances in which the policy became unfulfillable on both sides

It's at your risk, if you buy an annual policy where you aren't guaranteed to have the item for an entire year.

They are not asking you to pay for insurance for the entire year, simply a contribution towards the admin fees (which I believe can be up to £75).

You won't get anwhere if you pursue it because there is already precedent for what is fair (I believe it's £75 but I may be out of date).

I looked at they string on MSE Forum because I'd bought a car policy from Admiral and then, a week later, I sold the car. I'd hoped for some support to get a refund without a cancellation charge of £29.95 but, looking at the charge made by Churchill, it seems I've got off lightly!
