Santander "Gone Away"

Options
So I have been trying to clean up my credit report now all my debts are paid.

I have successfully separated from my ex husband financially and this has been reflected with all CRAs. There is no association now.

So I was surprised to find a "gone away" flag from Santander - this was put on after it was paid.

The address they have used for me is correct and I have been told by Santander that this is correct because it was a joint account.

My ex hasn't updated his address and refuses to do so.

This doesn't feel right to me - is it worth a complaint to Santander?

    Yes, worth a go.

Yes, Santander and the CRAs are peddling lies again. Complain to the ICO as well as to the perpetrators. A so-called 'gone away' marker could have serious consequences.

GAIN - Gone Away Information Network

Experian's information exchange network, which stores up-to-the-minute information about consumers who have moved without leaving a forwarding address.

Of course one is under no obligation whatsoever to leave a forwarding address to anyone. The Experian GAIN blacklist is ostensibly aimed at people who've gone away owing money with no intention of paying it back.

That's something the OP will have to raise.

Not a blacklist. It's a legitimate tracking system.
  • thanks for all the replies.

My issue is that I no longer have a financial association with this person.

Santander have my present address and they have confirmed that but refused to make the change on my report.

I can't find anything on the ICO guidelines about this.
