Where to go in May

Hi All

Does anyone have any advice on where to go in May. We are looking to go away next year (2 adults for an anniversary) but wondered if anyone has any advice.

Looking to go abroad

Thanks

What sort of holiday do you want? Do you want beaches and sunshine or museums and shopping, or something else entirely? Europe or further afield, what is your budget and how long do you want to go for?
There are lots of places you can go to in May but you might get more helpful suggestions if you can be more specific about what you're looking for!

We are ideally looking for a beach holiday for no more than £1500 all in. Not bothered about Europe or not, just wanted ideas. Ideally a week to 10 days

I don't mean to sound facetious, but if you're going to be that vague there's countless places you can go to on that budget - anywhere from France to LA to Thailand. You must have some vague notion of what you'd like in addition to a beach!?

If you can go later in May for 10 days your chances of more sun days in Europe are greater. I'm thinking Crete, Costa Almeria, Sicily.

Further away places such as Dubai may be possible, not the blingiest of hotels though on your budget.

The end of May bank holiday can push up prices.

Stayed in Mellieha for 3 weeks this February, and got the ferry across to Gozo twice. €4.65 for the return ferry's a bargain. Really nice place, and add to it the bus explorer @ €15 for 12 tickets it helps make Malta and Gozo good vfm.

I think that malta/Gozo in May would be an ideal time for the OP. Not too hot or too busy.

Dubai seems to come up quite often. For what reason I don't know.

Much better to holiday in Oman, imo.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

I think it comes up a lot because it's not that far away and has reliably good weather all year (though the Summer is horrible!). Presumably most people don't know much about the rest of the Middle East either.

I know I'd never even consider going back there - I can't think of a place I've ever visited that I liked any less!
